Jiani Cao (曹佳妮)

I am currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at City University of Hong Kong (CityU). I obtained my Ph.D. degree in 2024 from the Department of Computer Science, City University of Hong Kong (CityU), supervised by Prof. Zhenjiang Li. Before that, I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, from Xidian University (XDU), China in 2020.

My research focuses on developing AI-driven IoT and mobile systems, with an emphasis on creating novel and efficient sensing methodologies. These innovations aim to advance applications in smart healthcare and human-computer interaction, enhancing the way people interact with and benefit from intelligent technologies.

Publications:

Finger Tracking Using Wrist-Worn EMG Sensors

Jiani Cao, Yang Liu, Lixiang Han, Zhenjiang Li

IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing (TMC), 2024
[Paper] [Slides] [Project] [Code] [Demo]

Investigate the relationship between muscle distribution and the movement of each finger, enabling fine-grained tracking of 15 finger joints using only EMG signals from the wrist.

Practical Gaze Tracking on Any Surface with Your Phone

Jiani Cao, Jiesong Chen, Chengdong Lin, Yang Liu, Kun Wang, Zhenjiang Li

IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing (TMC), 2024
[Paper] [Slides] [Project] [Code] [Demo]

Combining physical eye model and SAM to automatically generate training labels for segmentation tasks, eliminating the need for manual effort and saving time.

Gaze Tracking on Any Surface with Your Phone

Jiani Cao, Chengdong Lin, Yang Liu, Zhenjiang Li

ACM SenSys, 2022
[Paper] [Slides] [Project] [Code] [Demo]

A new model-based gaze tracking system that can be used on any surface with just a standard RGB camera.

SwapNet: Efficient Swapping for DNN Inference on Edge AI Devices Beyond the Memory Budget

Kun Wang, Jiani Cao, Zimu Zhou, Zhenjiang Li

IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing (TMC), 2024
[Paper] [Slides]
